Should I purchase a heat pump? – Trianco Blog
An air source heat pump is an electronically powered device that absorbs air which passes through tubes containing refrigerant fluid to produce heat. There has been an increase in press coverage surrounding heat pumps following the launch of the government’s flagship Green Heating Scheme as the UK strives towards a national target for green heating. So, should you purchase a heat pump?
Environmentally friendly
Heat pumps are known for their high efficiency and are normally three times more efficient than gas boilers. Trianco Activair High Temperature Air Source heat pumps (HTHP) have been developed with cutting-edge technology, including the R290 low global warming refrigerant, the HTHP has an efficiency energy label of A++ for both heating and hot water.
The incorporated noise reduction technology ensures low sound pollution with 42-47 dB where a whisper is 30dB.
Save space
With ASA material and intelligent defrosting technology, the Trianco Activair HTHP is completely weatherproof, making it suitable for year long outdoor storage.
Combined with brand new technology from Trianco partners, Sunamp, you can also free up space. By eliminating water cylinders and installing the super compact Thermino hpPV, you could save up to 4x the space. There also options to store indoors, or outdoors with a weatherproof casing.

Reduce energy bills
Price volatility is common with gas and oil due to the short-term supply and demand fluctuations. By switching to a heat pump, you could see a reduction in your energy bill.
No VAT to pay on installation
The government has recently announced 0% VAT on the installation of heat pumps and biomass boilers, which will last for 5 years, further reducing the cost of installation.
Future proofing
Heat pumps are a great way to future proof your home. With digital software which allows you to remotely monitor and control your heat pump, you’ll receive direct notifications in the case of an error, making it easier to maintain the quality of your heat pump for longer.
Our 5-year warranty also ensures that any components which prove to be defective due to manufacturing defects will be repaired or replaced by TR Engineering Ltd (subject to Ts&Cs).
Finally, the installation of heat pumps in new build properties will ensure that your property meets The Future Homes Standard 2025. Where FHS’ will “require new build homes to be future-proofed with low carbon heating and world-leading levels of energy efficiency”.
Bonus: get it cheap or even for FREE!
Thanks to the government’s flagship Green Heating Scheme you could be eligible for a £5,000 grant for a heat pump if:

- have installed (or plan to install) your new heating system on or after 1 April 2022
- be replacing fossil fuel heating systems (such as oil, gas or electric)
With the Activair 9kW & 15kW HTHP both being under £5,000, the grant could cover your entire purchase. To apply for the grant:
