History
Trianco’s heritage can be traced to the Industrial Revolution and the founding of Newton Chambers in 1793. Originally rooted in coal mining and iron founding, the company grew into a major industrial group spanning heavy engineering and chemical products, including the well-known IZAL brand. By the 1850s, Newton Chambers was manufacturing coal-fired ranges at Thorncliffe near Sheffield. This soon expanded into fireplaces, back boilers, and freestanding heating stoves. In 1873, the company was awarded a Royal Warrant by Queen Victoria, marking a significant milestone in its history.
One division, Redfyre Products, saw rapid growth after the Second World War, particularly with its continuous-burning fires. With strong sales through British Coal and local authorities, the product range evolved from open fires to inset room heaters. As the business expanded into oil and gas boilers, distribution shifted towards builders’ merchants, with a growing focus on building brand loyalty among central heating installers. Over time, Trianco became synonymous with quality, earning its reputation as the ‘Rolls-Royce’ of boilers through its solid fuel and oil products. This prestige was further reinforced in 1953 when the company received a Royal Warrant as boiler manufacturers to Her Majesty the Queen Mother.
In 2000, Trianco entered the electric heating market with the launch of its Aztec range of electric boilers, marking a significant step in the company’s evolution. Designed to meet the growing demand for cleaner and more flexible heating solutions, the Aztec range offered a practical alternative to traditional fuel systems, particularly in properties without access to mains gas. Combining ease of installation with reliable performance, these electric boilers quickly gained popularity among installers and homeowners alike. The success of the Aztec range reinforced Trianco’s ability to adapt to changing market needs while maintaining the high standards of quality and reliability for which the brand is known.
Today
Today, while continuing to supply their popular Aztec range, the company has moved away from traditional oil and solid fuel boiler manufacturing.
Trianco is now focused on the future—developing innovative, renewable heating solutions that support the transition to net zero. Its Activair range of air source heat pumps continues to evolve, with efficiency and innovation at its core. Committed to sustainability, Trianco designs products that are future-ready and aligned with the Future Homes Standard (FHS), helping customers reduce environmental impact without compromising performance.
Customer service is at the heart of everything Trianco does. The company is committed to supporting customers at every stage—from product selection and installation through to ongoing maintenance and aftercare. With a knowledgeable and responsive support team, Trianco works closely with installers, merchants, and homeowners to ensure a smooth and reliable experience. This dedication to service, combined with decades of industry expertise, helps build lasting relationships and reinforces trust in the Trianco brand.
